Sun Microsystems co-founder sells for $3.6M in Santa Cruz

Andreas Bechtolsheim sold a four-bedroom home at 320 West Cliff Dr. in Santa Cruz for $3.6 million to Khristina Horn on July 1.
Bechtolsheim bought the property for $2.3 million in Oct. 1999.
Bechtolsheim is a chief architect, senior vice president and a co-founder of Sun Microsystems in Santa Clara. He co-founded the computer technology giant in 1982, and is also a member of its executive management team.
Bechtolsheim left Sun in 1995 to found Granite Systems, a company focused on developing high-speed network switches, which was acquired in 1996 by Cisco Systems for $220 million. He became vice president and general manager of Cisco's gigabit systems business unit before leaving the company in December 2003 to head Kealia, Inc., a company he co-founded to develop advanced server technology.
Bechtolsheim returned to Sun via the Kealia, Inc. acquisition.
He earned his Ph.D. in computer sciences and electrical engineering from Stanford University and his bachelor's in computer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa.
